Too hot for the four-legged friends: That’s what the Berlin Veterinary Office judged on Saturday before the planned pug race in Lichtenrade. At temperatures above 30 degrees there should actually 95 dogs compete against each other. The race on the 50 meter course is part of the traditional mop meeting that has been going on in the capital for ten years.
As organizer Thomas Zupan said on request but the race is prohibited by the office because of the high temperatures. Without further ado, he then turned the race around: Now it is no longer the animals, but their owners, who are racing for the race. With the boobs on his arm, of course.
How many participants followed the call, was not foreseeable at noon. But the mood at the mop meeting was still “nice and relaxed”, Zupan said. For the animals were water, splash baths and dog ice available. The race on a 50 meter course is the highlight of the animal event. This year it was supposed to be the last Zupan-organized meeting of its kind.(AP)
